What a way to spend time
Walking amongst trees
Listening to chirping birds,
The fresh scent after the rain
Best of all
To just be
In the great outdoors.
With the knowledge that it is impossible to get lost in the 1,000 hectares of the Hesdin forest, off we went to start another Sunday walk. It takes an hour to cross it along its length which is not what we did that day, though we did manage to do an hour’s walk before the skies decided to open up again and soak us.
Winning!
In summer it would be such an oasis underneath the canopy of trees and in spring enjoying the smell and colour of all the flowers blooming. Some of the flowers are Primrose Wood (or woodcock) and the anemone of the woods that bloom from March to May, and the hyacinth of the forest are to be found in April and May.
We had not as yet experienced seeing trees with that much coverage of such bright green moss. Love that we can still see something new in our dog walking expeditions in France.
Giants with Green Socks on
I came across this website, giving us some ideas of where we can take Louie and Nellie for walks. Easily readable and worth having a look.
This forest is dominated by beech (60%) and abundance of oak, sycamore and maple trees, it is also a place used to teach people carving out a silvicultural lifestyle.
Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.
Oh yes – definitely make sure some are dirt! Lovely post.

I feel more peaceful and calm reading your stories and looking at your photos. I noticed in this post as well in some others, that they are very crisp. Shot by a camera, not a phone?

Thanks Marian for your comment and pleased you are enjoying my blog posts. Due to having to limit our luggage and I am using my Samsung S7 instead of my larger camera.
