Countryside Scents in Spring

On a changeable spring day

Our shoes disturbing the surface

Earthy dusty soil and intoxicating pollen

As the soft breeze brushes past us and fills the air.

Our senses are engulfed

The ground is white with fallen blossoms,

Busy bees have done their job.

Clouds open up

The smell of rain

A freshness scent similar to sun-warmed sheets.

The soil has been tumbled around

Ready for new crops to grow under the summer sun.

A mixture of freshly cut grass and cow manure greet us

Before the sound of the cow and the working farmer.

There is something special about the countryside smells.

They are all associated with memories.

  1. That was beautiful Suzanne – and very evocative of life in the country (in any country!) I particularly loved the image of that billowing white sheet against the pure blue sky – just beautiful.
MLSTL and I’ve shared on my SM 🙂

  2. Lovely Suzanne and don’t you just love washing on the line when it is a glorious sunny day with clear blue skies? Springtime is always a time of hope and I especially love the jacarandas that have been blooming and then leaving a gorgeous purple carpet of flowers. Thanks for sharing at #MLSTL and have a great week. xx
