A Ceramic Market in Auvillar

A small break from unpacking and all those tedious chores associated with moving into a new home to catching up on our time in France.  Just a few weeks ago, it seemed longer.

Our previous visit to Auvillar was in January winter.  It was a wettish period, and even in the bare bones of winter, this pretty village instilled in us an eagerness to return again to explore in a more warmish and desirable month in Autumn.  Apparently, when the weather is more stable!

Which we did on more than one occasion.

A walk via the 15th century buildings

We enjoyed an unusually warm Autumn morning in late October on this particular visit.  Our purpose for this visit was to enjoy the enticing lanes with their colourful window shutters and be drawn to beautiful 12th-century churches and 15th-century houses.  Our quest was to view an ancient skill with a modern twist that interested us during this visit.

It was the raku demonstration and ceramics market.

The excellent array of ceramics ranges from colourful to subdued.  All were a joy to view, surrounded by historical buildings.  It was my ideal way to spend a Sunday morning enjoying the creativity of others with the aroma of food and coffee to make us stop and indulge.

I can’t think of a better way to enjoy a Sunday morning in France, can you?

    1. They were and I could’ve easily brought quite a few if the exchange rate had a more favourable leaning towards the kiwi dollar!!

  1. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday, I agree. The light is nicely captured as well. And, who doesn’t love the look of pottery! 🙂

On the other hand, I never look in my draft folder of my blog. Maybe it’s because I never schedule posts? I always write every blog in a Word document and copy it into WordPress to post with photos.

    1. I too don’t schedule posts Liesbet. I just like to have a few blog posts in my drafts box in case of “I can’t think of anything to write about” moments.
