The fluttering bird
With glimmering feathers
Swoops past me.
The sound of heavy wings
Announces the tui.
The black shadow
Moves so swiftly
Amongst bright green leaves
Sun catching colours
Through the gaps of the tree
Is a treat.
Songbird sing for me
In the kowhai tree
Time moves slow
When the wind blows
At your tuft.

Such a wonderful photo! Those colours! ๐

A most beautiful bird and beautifully captured. Those neck feathers are exquisite. I only ever saw them from a distance.

Years ago it was a Canon camera on a tripod and a copious amount of patience.

Well your patience paid off.

Lovely photos, Suzanne. How lovely to get so close that you could capture that detail. Hope that is the only thing you two are getting close to at the moment.

What a pretty bird. The blues on its wings and neck are gorgeous and I love the white whispery feathers. Nice capture!

Thanks, Janis; I just got lucky. Captured a while ago, I am trying to use the photos I already have stored away as I try to delete duplicate ones or ones I no longer want.

A beautiful bird, one that Iโd never heard of before. Good photos!

It is a beautiful bird and a treat to capture, especially during spring when they’re drunk on nectar and slower in movement.
