Revenge was dealt
With feather dusters
And stealth like movements
Into dusty corners
Nooks and crannies
And sticky threaded artwork.
With slow synchronicity
They stealthily crept back
To spotless homes.

I can’t say I love spiders, but I do love their webs Suzanne. There’s been a fabulous one hanging from the lampost outside our house for years. There’s no way I could ever get rid of it 🙂

I admit to not enjoying a spiders company though I do admire their ingenuity. Wow, that’s amazing your local spider web has survived all weathers and humans.

I think you may be in the minority group, Martha. Learning more about China thanks to your book, interesting.

Killing a spider is bad luck in China. I know I’m in the minority about those little critters. I do not like Black Widows, though. 😀

Well, that is news to me. I think I would rather take my chance with how much luck I had than have cobwebs 🙂

I suspect that — like the Chinese word for “bat” — the Chinese word for “spider” is a homophone with a word like “luck” or “long life” or “prosperity” or something like that. I don’t know, but I’m sitting here with a Chinese teacup of tea and it’s painted with bats, and characters for long life and prosperity.

Spider webs are amazing. They are delicate, effective, attractive, compelling. I’m not fond of finding them in my house, though.

It’s interesting how something so attractive be so deadly for insects and how fast spiders can move when said prey comes to visit. I prefer spider webs outside than in.

It’s a spellbinding poem, Suzanne. Spider’s webs are one of the many complexities of nature.

You’re right they are so complex and some artistic, I think twice about destroying them. Until I see the big black spider lurking. Thanks very much, Jo😘

Webs outside are one thing, but those sticky cobwebs indoors that attract the dust are another!

Agreed, and we have quite a few spiders making themselves comfortable outside this year.
