She was four and three-quarters, too young for school and too engrossed in her little world to be bothered by the crying baby at home.
Adventures awaited her just down the road.
However, on that restless Saturday morning, hunger gnawed at her before reaching the road’s end, and she could not ignore those rumbling sounds any longer. So, she purposely ventured through the neighbour’s low sash window, oblivious to the consequences. As she trudged back home, she was unaware that the adults were already reacting to her actions.
The impending trouble was a distant concept from her innocent perspective.

Powerful. Well said in so few words.

Thank you, Ally. I enjoy the challenge of writing short stories and discovering new ways to improve my writing.

And what she actually got was a sore backside for quite a few days after that adventure, so the story goes. The trails and tribulations of an early explorer.

She’ll never get those care free years back. Consequences! Don’t you hate them, Suzanne? Beautifully imagined xx

Especially those less thought out adventures with painful consequences. Perhaps she had to pave the way for the younger siblings on what not to do 😉 Thanks, Jo xx
