This series of photographs, to be shown one at a time, was discarded onto a pen drive years ago when my blog was Globalhousesitterx2. They got pushed back down the pile, not rejected for subject matter, but more so that I had enough to write about.
It’s been fun sifting through them, reminding me of a time when our future life together wasn’t questioned, and our best travel times have been independent travel via roadtrips. In this case, travelling from the Spanish Coast, through the interior of Spain, to arrive back in France for a repeat housesit. Through this experience, we explored various regions at a leisurely pace.
The reasons they were dismissed, apart from having enough to write about, are varied and are now still worthy of a spot in the limelight.
Let’s say, as a discussion point?.

We were on a natural high after experiencing our first flight of eagles soaring above us. Our subsequent discovery was further down this picturesque area, Ermita Virgen del Camino. A small chapel set into the rocky hills. We were fortunate as it was open to view from the inside, which showed a whimsical arrangement of offerings from travellers. Places like this will always stay with us for their randomness and thought-provoking sights.
Always good to look back and revive memories.

After I’ve been for a long cycle ride. Many photos have stories attached that I didn’t write about at the time. Preparing myself for future travel 🙂

Funny how some things stay with you… It’s like that box under the bed, full to the brim of photo memories. Some, so very distant, but some feel like yesterday xx

It is, Jo, the small things and usually in less touristy places. It doesn’t feel like years ago and it all assists in me working out what to do and where to go walking in the future xx

You’re right, Ju-Lyn, as many of the photos I have loved revisiting. They have also helped to remind me of how grateful I am that we did such extensive travel together when we did.

Hi. We never know what we’ll “stumble” upon and connect with in a meaningful way. That’s a big part of the fun in life, I think.

Good point, Neil and one I agree with. It is fun when the day isn’t overly planned, and you have the time to stumble across those travel gems.

One reason I blog is so that I can look back at journeys made. And places I won’t visit again.

I would never disappear without letting everyone know. Or have someone else do it for me. It seems unfair not to let others know.

It’s good to look back, even on stuff already blogged about – I love checking what 3 posts the algorithm comes up with as “related” to my current post and enjoying rereading them. Sometimes it’s impossible to work out how they are related!

Very true, Anabel. Yes, I enjoy checking out the 3 posts that come up as “related.” Usually, it’s a good opportunity to read and edit.

How unusual. it nust have been quite the experience to visit the chapel.

The Eagles were incredible and too far away to capture. With the chapel being a good excuse to stop and stretch our legs and view it.

Pleased to have you here now and it was a carefree time, housesitting and travelling. It’s also a motivation to keep my eyes on the future and what I can get up to 🙂

It seems an odd place for a little chapel. Is it along some pilgrimage route? Looks like it was a perfect day for a drive. Always fun to revisit old travel pics.

I think it must be part of the pilgrimage route by the token gestures inside of the chapel. Funnily enough we were on the route or within near distance from a few housesits. It’s been an aim of mine for years to do a long distance walk. Looking back is hopefully making me more determined to do it. One day 🙂

I keep thinking of doing the 400+ mile Colorado Trail “someday”, or maybe a rim-to-rim of the Grand Canyon. Maybe nothing more than a dream, with these knees…

The Colorado Trail would be amazing. You never know, Eilene. It’s a wee operation, and away you go. Plus, dreams keep us going, and we may end up doing something on a less grand scale. Makes those dreams all worthwhile.
