Sometimes there are more motivations than you think to get out of bed early. Having said that during winter, these glorious sights are around 7 am, not that early, unlike the summer hour.
It is a lovely place to live and we have being having some epic sunrises/sunsets of late. During winter it’s easier to enjoy them as the sun rises at a reasonable time.

We would need to go into the high country sheep farming areas to see any shepherds. None in Tauranga. It was glorious.
