Oh, how I have missed playing with words and photos. So, here’s a quick post to let you know I am still proudly smiling. The new kitchen looks fabulous so far, and not too long before the progress is finished. Yes, I’ve managed to do this renovation by myself, though the company we have used is excellent and not too many issues considering our building is as old as I am, give or take a few years. Next Sunday, the Squire returns home from supporting his brother (his donor) through a health crisis in Brisbane.

I’m not the only one who enjoys partaking in a walk on an autumn day. Joining in with Becky’s SquaresRenew

    1. Apologies Nilla for not answering your comment. Not sure I will post any photos as it’s our private space. Visitors who know us are always welcome for a view. Let’s just saw we absolutely love our new space, spacious and so workable. No excuse not to bake/cook up a storm. Where are you now?

      1. My turn to apologise! Understand what you mean as we renovated our house a couple of years ago but I haven’t posted anything about that (only the rental property).
        Landed in the UK a couple of days ago after spending 25 days in Portugal and exhausting Schengen. Here for 5 weeks then fly to Gdansk.
        We’re monitoring the war, which will dictate whether we return to the Ukraine to volunteer again or not.

        1. Lovely Portugal and I am sure you both enjoyed your time there. Schengen rules nearly had us kicked out of Switzerland if it hadn’t been for our NZ passport and the immigration guy feeling sorry for us.

    1. Thanks Becky, the professionals are doing the kitchen, and I stripped wallpaper and painted the walls. Still a certain amount of sorting out stuff and making decisions.

        1. No pressure on me then 😂 Use every bit of space as storage is so important as is the flow. What looks fabulous is taking the cupboards to ceiling height it makes such a difference.

  7. That’s a lovely photo. Glad all the work is going well. I used to enjoy decorating, but I’m not so good on ladders now. Sorry to hear there’s been a health crisis in Brisbane, hope both brothers are doing well now.

    1. Thanks, Jude. Les’s health is stable and we both thought if he doesn’t go now it may never happen as being a transplant recipient life is never the same again. His brother had his bowel reconnected so Les was very pleased to be able to support him and his wife. The operation was brought forward so all in all good timing for Les to be there. He’s looking tired so will be good to see him back here on Sunday. By Tuesday, he’ll be annoying me again she says laughing.

  8. Yes, Les’s brother is doing much better, and Les has done a good thing by being there to support him. They are very close.
    Luckily, I only needed to climb two or three rungs to paint the top of the walls.

        1. Last time I did was when I renovated a Victorian house and decorated throughout. 20 years ago. And ended up with a frozen shoulder. I did a couple of rooms when we moved here, but now I will get the professionals in.

          1. Doing up a Victorian house would’ve been an amazing experience if not frustrating in parts. I’m over the renovation and certainly do not want to do another kitchen one nor a major painting job. Like you I would now get the professionals in, getting too old for this lark 😉 It needed to be done, and it has set us up with a lovely environment to relax in. I won’t mention the small jobs that need doing in the bathroom 😉

    1. Thanks, Sarah. I will be very happy to have my personal space returned. A bit over it, though loving the new half finished kitchen and the lounge walls I prepared and painted. Not long to go.

Anyway, I was saying I was glad that the kitchen and health matters seem to be progressing well and that I love your picture. The cat and horse are just adorable together.

    1. No worries, Anabel. I received just one, so thanks for retrying. I love the new look of our half finished kitchen, Les has seen it via video. His health is stable, so we thought it best to go and visit his brother while the going was good.
      I’ve got a bit of catching up regarding reading your blog and others.

    1. Thanks Eilene. I will show snippets of the changes though not full on photos just because I like to have that kept private. I am loving the integrated appliances and the general look of the kitchen, such a huge difference to how we will use it. I might have to so some fancy cooking 😉
