Snapshots of Tauranga #15

The bridge between
night and day
is a bright pink light
and a warm flat white
on a winter morning.
Tauranga Harbour

At the moment, I’m busy clearing out the family (parents) house that was sold last week. There is a good reason why I enjoy a semi-minimalistic interior and quality over quantity.

Have a wonderful day/night, and I will catch up on your goings-on soon.

  1. Isn’t it amazing how quickly the words ‘flat white’ have absorbed into the language, Suzanne? I was envying you the sunset and a possible glass of wine until I saw that last paragraph.

    1. An iconic kiwi slang word – the flat white. I’m more of a long black coffee drinker.
Nearly finished and a major relief to have that job completed well ahead of the new owners moving in.

        1. Nearly there, Jo. After years travelling we found the milk unpalatable so enjoyed our coffee black. Too much milk products isn’t good for any of us.

  2. I’ve done that family house clearing thing (twice – once my husband’s parents’, once mine) and I don’t envy you the task. It’s amazing what other people feel the need to keep! I hope you’re soon done with it and can relax abit.

    1. Yes, not the most pleasant of jobs though one that has to be done. You’re right, the relief was massive. Just more cleaning and the lawns need another trim then the new owners can have fun making it their own.

  3. I’m very much a flat white person and would love to have one with that view. I don’t envy you the house clearance. I need to do a bit of that myself. My kids aren’t going to want any of my stuff.

    1. The view is from across the road, so wasn’t holding the coffee cup then 😉 I’m definitely over trying to work out where things should go and be dumped. Nearly finished. We now have the philosophy if we don’t use it then it goes.

  4. A beautiful sunrise Suzanne . I can empathise with your clean up. When we downsized from large house to the 2 bedroom apartment it was an eye opener how much “stuff” we had accumulated. Very hard to toss it out, all those memories, but know eventually it will all be tossed out. But in the meantime we just enjoy, just occasionally, looking through it.
