A Tale of Quick Wit #99wordstory

Family dinners sometimes require patience and restraint, never without robust debate masked as entertainment. Unfailingly, our plates were always full, and seconds were only requested for dessert.

At one particular dinner, we weren’t disappointed on all accounts; as the night progressed, the conversation was in full regalia until a preschooler interrupted.

“Kane, please don’t talk over your Aunty.”

Without a second thought, he replied, “But I didn’t; my voice went under the table and out the other side.”

His innocent yet humorous response left his father speechless. While the rest burst into raucous laughter and marvelled at his quick retort.

    1. Reasonably, 5 of us and there’s 4 grandchildren, and Les’s side there’s 4 with 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. Plus, a couple of cousins I’m close to. The table we used to congregate around was a rustic heavy wooden one my brother made not at all like the one pictured which was taken at an estate in UK.
