Travel Photos #8 – Lincoln, UK

At the time of our visit, we were heading up to North Yorkshire for the first time. I’m not sure I mentioned a stop in Lincoln, though I did share our second visit in 2018 meandering roadtrip before settling into a repeat housesit.

One moment that stood out amongst this incredible historical area, and the reason for this post, is the now non-existent quaint bookstore and cafe, which made us smile at the thought of Les entering through a very low doorway.

I found out that this cafe and bookstore no longer exists, via Mike (ms6282), who didn’t include it while writing about his recent visit to Lincoln. Just proving it once existed is basically the reason for this post, and besides that, it brought back happy memories of us exploring this area.

Les is standing outside the said bookstore and cafe at 1 Christ Hospital Terrace on Steep Hill in Lincoln, which dates from the 12th or 13th century and features Norman stonework. Originally part of a medieval townhouse or possibly linked to nearby Christ’s Hospital?

Of course, there is more to Lincoln than the more touristy historic areas and a steep hill. As mentioned, this post is mainly about sharing a photo of a bookstore and cafe that was once a lovely addition to our walk up a steep hill, which no longer exists.
