Deeper than the pond #99wordstory

The stirred pond reflecting
a busy driveway,
shadows swimming in circles.

As if in unison
the lads eyes on
a continuous rotation.

Upon hearing
from the house
a voice repeatedly shouting,
Are you going to get out of that car, now?

Neither the fish nor the boy changed positions.

Until, that voice
appeared at the window.
With a bemused tone,
What's the matter, kid?
Did you wet your pants?

The boy's eyes stopped rolling,
and just as quickly his hand
reached for the door handle.

Proving without doubt his pants weren't wet
Like the fish who kept on swimming.

    1. Thanks, Neil. I do find it fun to stay within the word count, and I could challenge myself further by using more elaborate and sophisticated words. The big plus is that it takes my mind off reality for a wee while.
