Today, I’m participating in Jude”s #2020 Photo Challenge. This month’s challenge was about lines, the last week, it’s curving lines, leading your eye into the image. Which was no easy task, as I have a larger collection of the straight and narrow than squiggly ones. I do like that word Squiggly don’t you?
It took me all the way to Portugal, the year was 2016.
Here is what I found.
Cascais
It was a typical late summer’s Portuguese day, the sun was shining and the place was pulsating with happy tourists and local folk.
Lisbon
We enjoyed this city immensely that we went back a second time.
Looking back on our time in this seemingly positive, visually stimulating country with it’s most amazing tiles and architecture are filled with happy memories. Luckily for many of us we can all take the opportunity to relive our travelling days via photographs.

I have never seen lines like this before, I feel all dizzy! 🙂 Absolutely brilliant. 🙂

It seems to have that affect on people, making them dizzy. It didn’t make us dizzy walking over the tiles though an unusual feeling doing so🙂.

I like the word “squiggly”. It’s quirky. Just like your photos. I couldn’t imagine going back to 2016 in my archives! That’s a lot of years and thousands of photos ago! Fun memories for you both. I’ve “always” wanted to travel in Portugal. Apparently, it is a very popular place for expats! 🙂

It does seem a popular place for ex-pats. The low cost of living and housing could have something to do with it. Though I have a feeling that will be all changed by now. Hard to believe it has been 4 years since we were there. Housesitting over in Europe seems like a lifetime ago! Nothing surer in life than change. Oh, apart from taxes 🙂

Unless you don’t make enough money to pay taxes, haha! I think the sunny weather might be an attraction for ex-pats in Portugal as well. 🙂 Can’t wait to visit one day and maybe become ex-pats ourselves.

I have photos of both of those squares, they really are squiggly! The one in Rossio made me feel quite seasick, you often think that the paving is stepped when it is actually flat. Great curves for the challenge. Thanks Suzanne 🙂

Jude, you’re welcome and I am enjoying being a part of the challenges. Keeps me motivated to sorting out my photo files. So, many repeats and ones that need to be deleted!

Portugal is lovely, such contracting areas from rough, old to new and modern. The old areas of Porto were amazing as was the bridge.

It does have that effect, though not so much actually walking on them. I just loved them and drove Les to distraction exclaiming how wonderful they were.

Well you found some perfect photographs there, Suzanne to convey the theme of both ‘squiggly’, (great word!) and straight lines. I imagine these photo’s brought back a few nice memories too 🙂 I’ve never heard of Jude’s challenge so thank you for bringing my attention to it 🙂

Jo, not quite sure what you meant by short of “q”s 🙂 I think the tiles are amazing especially those that adorn the buildings. I couldn’t do more than a few steps before taking another photograph!

Portugal was on my list this year. Now, maybe next. The tile work is amazing! Can you imagine being the one in charge of laying it?

Yes, I remember you mentioning a trip to Portugal would be on your things to do list. We enjoyed Portugal. I could imagine the hard work involved in tiling all those public areas!
Not sure when travellers will be welcome back to Europe. I think many countries will be very hesitate in opening their borders. Home seems the best place to be until a vaccination is available. Time will tell.
