I walk along the boardwalk, heavily footed.
As another cloud passes overhead
I then became aware of blanketed crabs.
It is then they escape in unison
into their corresponding homes.

My inner chatter about life
as if it were the tide.
We all know that water goes in and out
and the need to hunker down
when it all becomes too much.

I keep walking, trying to make sense of it
in a way, of course, I understand
as I look out to that expanse.
With it’s bareness and vulnerability.
That could be me.

Thanks for the beautiful photos and sending big hugs! Mel

Back again, 16 kms later and this time with a friend as we train for the next half marathon. Mel, I wrote this a while ago, and a return hug x

Go you. I have no idea how you run so far. A camino will be an absolute doddle for you!

Fast walking not running, Mel. I don’t have a runner’s body 😉 Years ago I certainly over took some slow runners, not sure about doing that feat now.

We have loads of Fiddler crabs along our shoreline, Suzanne. They only have one claw and apparently don’t taste good so they’ll never be a threatened species. I like your poem.

Thanks, Jo, and the photo wasn’t taken from that estuary. I was cheating a wee bit 😉 I am not a big fan of crab to eat as I found them quite bland; the Portuguese sardines are delicious. Speaking of food time to eat after our long training walk 🙂

Yeah, I ebb and flow and hide in my hole sometimes, too!

Always lovely and cosy when we all need a quiet space.

What a lovely spot.
I hope you’re not feeling as low as you sounded, Suzanne.

Thanks for your concern, Sue, I’m fine it was written during a naval gazing moment 😁

Susanne, there is nothing like a walk in nature to make sense of it all. Beautiful poem and accompanying photos.
