Singing to me sweetly a tui. Standing up straight I stay very still. So please, don't flutter your wings and leave me standing. I'll have no choice but to put one foot after another to rebegin my walk. Keep singing a melody and I will stay very still.
Nature and birds remind us of people who are no longer here with us. Though never far, they fly around and stay a while to make us smile.
“Nature and birds remind us of people who are no longer here with us. ”
So very true. And not only a lovely photo and video, but also a very poignant poem.

Thanks Suzanne. It is hard to believe we won’t see him again, although he was ill, it’s still such a shock. Fortunately my son and his family are over here from Australia so a welcome distraction, though not quite the holiday they were looking forward to.

Oh Jude, you will be in shock. No matter what the head tells us the heart always feels differently. So, pleased your son and family are there with you. Timing is everything, eh.

Iβve never thought of a bird reminding me of someone. Thatβs a lovely idea. Enjoyed your poem, photo and video. The Tui reminds me a little of our scrub jays.

Thanks very much, Eilene, pleased you enjoyed it. I googled Scrub Jays, aren’t they gorgeous birds, the blue is beautiful. I suppose everyone has a favourite hence some remind me of people. The Tui has such a distinctive tune that if I get the chance to capture it, I do stop and enjoy it.

They are rather chatty birds! Very high pitched. My husband would hear nothing of that.π

Many people over a certain age won’t π Not the usually “nice” chirpy bird sound, just different.

Typical I had just stopped videoing when the Tui decided to rip out a tune π
