The stillness is contagious. The pohutukawa trees are still. Their blossoms scream stillness. The grey clouds barely move. I am still. Typed words rebounding on the line. Like a therapeutic stone skimming a still pond.

“Contagious silence” – I love it!

Thanks, Ju-Lyn and thankfully some things can be contagiously good for us.

Yes! I heard decades ago that we might try spreading “good gossip”!

I sometimes fear stillness, Suzanne. Activity is easier to get lost in.

I can fully understand that fear. Tiredness, being rundown and the need for time out is when stillness is the most enjoyable.

I feel the calmness. And what a beautiful pohutukawa flower. The best of all Christmas trees.

Agreed, that the best Christmas tree is the Pohutukawa. We are so fortunate to have a few near us and I find them cheerful to view from our window/balcony. They have blossomed early this year supposedly an indication of a hot summer.

Thank you for reminding me we live on a glorious oblate spheroid with warmth on the other side!

Haha, you’re welcome, though I’m sure to be over about the heat by the end of February 🌞
