Postcards from Around the World

Let’s have a touch of nostalgia.

In 2018, I first started creating these postcard themes on a random basis, and I thought I would reinstate this idea, though the following posts in this series won’t be in the same format as below. However, they will showcase images that are languishing in my pen drives that haven’t been seen on my blog. Sometimes, it’s good to remember just how fortunate we were to have the opportunity to travel and explore. Not least of all, it gives me the opportunity of sorting out and ridding myself of images not worth keeping.

This idea was reignited by Jude from Travel Words. Those bloggers who follow her will know that she’s cleaning out her multitudes of images and showcasing ones that have not appeared on her blogs.

    1. Sonia, I think it was made out of metal if my memory serves me correctly. It was certainly a “Wow” moment as we turned the corner! I love seeing sculptures around cities.

        1. Pros and cons list and eliminate. I will have to google Guedelon as I have not heard of it. Weather wise, north west is always best?

        2. Guedelon as a destination seems like a grand choice as it has a castle currently under construction near Treigny. Bordeaux can be overly touristy.

          1. It’s the castle I want to see, but I’d need to find other things there to fill my time. If I go to Bordeaux there are lots of places around there that I’d like to visit.

I’ll start doing some proper research into the trip next month.

    1. Strasburg is an incredible city to explore and that part of France with a touch of Germany is beautiful. It would be interesting to revisit and see if my opinion has changed. Though, sometimes revisiting places don’t seem the same the second time around. I have a fu*kit list now, no bucket list.

  1. A great idea Suzanne – it’s always good to remember the places we have seen and acknowledge how lucky we are to have done so 😀 And I really like how you’ve formatted your cards and written them as if they really were a postcard! I may have to learn from you for my own ‘Postcards from the road’ series!

    1. Thanks Neil, what a fun description cosy and comfortable. When I did this it reminded me of the postcards I used to send to our parents many years ago. Both sets of parents never managing to travel to Europe.

    1. I found my original master copy postcard that I made up on Canva so I may keep to the same format. I always start off with a hiss and a roar with these projects and somehow get distracted 😉

    1. I am sure you will go back, Janis. All are wonderful places to visit for various reasons. The more memorable ones were visiting Strasbourg and surrounding areas. The places where we housesat, the small villages/towns visited on our road trips, being around locals and away from tourists were also memorable and we would go back in a heartbeat.

  2. I enjoyed all the France postcards – very nicely done! When I was a newborn, we moved to France and lived near Orleans. I remember nothing of that. The only place I’ve been in France since then is Strasbourg, just for a night on our way from Bern, Switzerland to Merzig, Germany. We did like it very much.

    1. It is lovely, isn’t it. Chocolate box sort of loveliness. Les has fond memories of the breakfast buffets more than the pretty flower boxes that I remember 😉 What an adventure for your young parents.
