Snapshots of Tauranga #28

A sin to stop
Just six kms short of home
And sit on a weathered wooden seat
In the sun and set
The world to right.
What’s another moment stolen
From a day already plundered.
My conscience is as clear
As the Korimako’s song
In the Koromiko bush
And the May sky.
I’d have missed
If I’d taken another path.

The Korimako (Bellbird) in the Koromiko bush
Another path, another story.

  1. Well, I’m not a believer in sin (especially “original sin”), but it sounds like stopping was exactly the right thing to do! Beautiful bird. I was arrested by the reflection in the photograph with the path and trees. It’s perfectly placed to catch the eye.

    1. Eilene, just a phrase in using the “sin” word, as I’m in agreement with you. We do have some stunning birds and the korimako (bellbird) has a more pleasing sound. More sightings in the Kaimai Ranges than around the estuary.
