Snapshots of Tauranga #54 – Reflections and Kingfishers

It’s been simply a week of reflecting, perhaps a smattering of overthinking, moments of stillness and movement, of enjoying the abundance of birdlife, mainly kingfishers and the sounds of the raucous Tui. Plus, the usual hour or two of basketball training.

A Kingfisher wrapped in the warmth of a glowing sunset.

Doubled picture perfection

On windless days

Even in winter

As the sun stretched low

Her rays like claws

Wrapping the world

in a warm embrace.

Peeking behind clouds

Ready to pounce.

  1. Love the kingfisher. Here they are far too quick to capture, in fact I don’t think I have ever seen one in the UK. As for overthinking, I have been doing a lot of that this week…

  2. That’s quite the photo of the estuary. Water makes one contemplative. I think we see our thoughts reflected back at us which makes them more manageable. Of course with the stuary there is also the ceaseless movement of the tides.

    1. Thanks Ruth and I enjoy having the estuary on my doorstep and the sea not too far away. The estuary is a far more interesting landscape to capture.

    1. Yes, we do, though we’ve visited some amazing places in our travels. Home is home.
South Island trails are out on their own for their stunning views.
