It’s been simply a week of reflecting, perhaps a smattering of overthinking, moments of stillness and movement, of enjoying the abundance of birdlife, mainly kingfishers and the sounds of the raucous Tui. Plus, the usual hour or two of basketball training.

Doubled picture perfection
On windless days
Even in winter
As the sun stretched low
Her rays like claws
Wrapping the world
in a warm embrace.
Peeking behind clouds
Ready to pounce.

Beautiful bird. Different from our kingfishers.

I was pleased that they were back in the pockets of bush around the estuary and our resident ones in the Pohutukawa’s around our neighbourhood.

Love the kingfisher. Here they are far too quick to capture, in fact I don’t think I have ever seen one in the UK. As for overthinking, I have been doing a lot of that this week…

Thatās quite the photo of the estuary. Water makes one contemplative. I think we see our thoughts reflected back at us which makes them more manageable. Of course with the stuary there is also the ceaseless movement of the tides.

Thanks Ruth and I enjoy having the estuary on my doorstep and the sea not too far away. The estuary is a far more interesting landscape to capture.

Gorgeous sunrise. You live in a beautiful country. My daughter and I hiked a couple of trails on the South Island last year.

Yes, we do, though we’ve visited some amazing places in our travels. Home is home.
South Island trails are out on their own for their stunning views.
